ShoreCap Exchange held an in-person forum “Developing Strategic Leadership for Senior Management” from August 24th to 28th in Chennai, India. We were joined by twenty-nine senior managers representing institutions from eight different institutions (in as many countries) across Asia and Eastern Europe. ShoreCap Exchange partnered with the Center for Creative Leadership, a leading global provider of executive education, to arrange twenty-seven leadership sessions over five days covering topics such as “Building a Culture of Performance & Accountability,” and “Key Leadership Challenges at the Workplace and Organization.”
The sessions were complemented by a collaborative environment in which Attendees candidly shared challenges faced and lessons learned from their own experiences and institutions. Attendees also contributed from their experience on-the-ground towards a wide range of teambuilding exercises and simulations, in particular a case study to address the challenges faced by a microfinance-focused commercial bank in Africa. The Forum reflected many of the everyday concerns and conundrums senior managers face in promoting the social and business mandates of their institutions, ranging from motivating and training staff and delivering effective but cost-efficient products to client communities.
Participants liked the content and structure of the forum, identifying a number of skills and lessons they will take back to their institutions. Each participant created Personal and Institutional Development Plans at the forum to develop route plans for implementation of identified priorities. Many also planned to go back and share specific session frameworks and tools with their teams to improve group performance. Exchange was requested to consider making this an annual training forum providing an opportunity for partner institutions to share these tools and interactions more broadly amongst their staff.
