ShoreCap Exchange’s Peer Learning & Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN) is premised on the belief that entrepreneurs learn best from other entrepreneurs, with bankers learning valuable insights from fellow bankers who have struggled with many of the same challenges and opportunities that they are facing.
Exchange’s KEN program grew out of the onsite capacity building work we do with our partner banks. This one-on-one work allowed us to identify the more common capacity gaps.
The KEN program has a dual mandate of bringing together bankers for peer learning opportunities AND developing toolkits and publications that share industry knowledge on bank operations. The initiatives that bring together bankers include an in-person forum, quarterly phone forums for three groups of senior bank managers and an upcoming online Discussion Board.
Please click the links to learn more about each of the individual initiatives, our publications and upcoming events. Many of our publications are posted online and all the resource toolkits may be requested via email. To join the KEN program, email us.
The peer learning program is being organized into the ShoreBank Action Learning Network in 2008. Please watch this space to learn more about what the Network will do and how you can be a part of it!

Virtual Conference
The three-day Virtual Conference held over September 15-17, 2007 focused on the theme of cashflow-based individual lending and its importance for microfinance institutions. The first conference day emphasized the need for institutions to focus on cash flow as a primary source of repayment, and the importance of credit officers to really understand any new individual lending products and their impact on cash flow. The second day delved into the specific processes that support sound credit analysis and a strong cash flow. The third and last day centered on a topic very relevant for Exchange’s partners: risks facing high-growth MFIs. Please click here to learn more about the conference.
